Amy Bautz is a St. Louis–based artist whose work blends whimsy, observation, and a deep love of color. Trained as a photojournalist at the University of Texas at Austin, she brings a sharp eye for detail to her paintings, often drawing inspiration from plants, animals, and the natural world. Her work is playful and grounded, sometimes edging into the fantastical, and is always shaped by her lifelong habit of creating art to the soundtrack of whatever music is playing nearby.
