About the Artist
Aileen Fitzgerald is a self-taught artist, nurse, and mother whose atmospheric landscapes are shaped through layered washes of diluted paint and dry brush, creating soft, blurred forms punctuated by moments of detail. Influenced by old-world Impressionism and a strong sense of light, she begins each painting with the sky, allowing mood and instinct to guide the scene as landforms, water, and shifting weather gradually emerge through successive layers. Much of her inspiration comes from the quiet landscapes of the Texas Hill Country, whose rolling terrain, oak trees, and open skies inform the calm, grounded tone of her work. Drawing subtle influence from antique sepia photographs, Fitzgerald’s intuitive process produces organic landscapes with depth, contrast, and a sense of quiet reflection.
